I have just been advised by Joyce Howes that John passed away today, 15 Sep 2009

She is trying to advise members of the 2 Sqn group that he still maintained contact with, but she has just moved into a nursing home herself and does not have her records with her. She seems to recall that there may be a Gary Olson and she will also contact Ray Ezzy who went to see John when he was in the nursing home.

The funeral service will be held at Drysdale Funerals at Nambour probably Friday - further advice will be in a Funeral Notice in the Courier Mail.

The only contact details I have are of their son Peter on 0419 758 385 who rang us this afternoon.

Dear Gunnies,

On behalf of my Mother Joyce Howes & I, we would like to thank all those who attended John's Funeral last Friday and gave him such a good send off. Some of you like Bill & Dot Black and Ray Ezzy have been friends to my Dad & Mum for over Fifty years and even though I was only I small blonde headed kid in Penang all those years ago, I still remember many of you (though yonger versions of yourselves), I thank you for the support you have shown to Mum at this sad time.
